Tosoh Bioscience - Separation & Purification
Microbial processes are crucial for producing biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, chemicals, and food ingredients. Continuous manufacturing could enhance efficiency and reduce footprint, but high bacterial mutation rates and technical complexity hinder its feasibility. No fully autonomous biopharmaceutical process has been submitted to the EMA/FDA, and large-scale plants consume excessive energy and water. As a result, no fully automated, continuous microbial bioprocess exists globally.

What can we do for you?

The Project!

The Econti project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), is focused on increasing the efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness of biotechnological production. Within the project, a fully continuous, scalable bioprocess has been established for in E. coli based recombinant expression (Protein A) and purification at the 1–10 L scale.

The platform technology is designed to be product-agnostic within E.coli-based expression and scale-up to 100–1000 L. Contact us for more information!
